As you may be aware, Fujitsu Limited works with the Google Cloud to provide infrastructure and services that support customers' digital innovation, with partnerships such as FUJITSU Hybrid IT Service for Google Cloud. And now we are pleased to announce the latest initiative to realize a secure and flexible data management and utilization infrastructure by linking Google Cloud services and Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres.

Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres and Google Cloud services simplify the creation of a flexible data management
      and utilization foundation.

Initiatives to realize secure and flexible data management and utilization infrastructure

Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres is a database that works in any environment, whether on-premise or on cloud, including Google Cloud services, allowing customers to maintain data portability. This enables customers to deploy Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres in any environment to manage data according to system requirements and leverage data in conjunction with Google Cloud services, making it easy to build a flexible data management and utilization foundation, especially considering that they can work from anywhere.

For example, in order to support business decisions and improve operational efficiency, you may want to construct a system that collects and processes data generated daily, and then analyzes, visualizes, and shares that data in a unified manner. In this case, distributed business data can be uniformly stored in Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres and integrated with the following Google Cloud services:

      Data analysis

      • Datastream: Provides real-time data integration from Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres to BigQuery.
      • Cloud Dataflow: Delivers periodic data integration from Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres to BigQuery.
      • BigQuery: Stores and analyzes vast amounts of data collected from Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres.

      Visualization

      Analysis data exchange

In the past, when we tried to realize such a data management and utilization infrastructure, we had to build business systems and a data utilization infrastructure on the same cloud because of the interconnectedness of products and services. However, the ease of external system integration of Google Cloud services combined with the portability of Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres allows customers to choose more flexible system configurations.

In addition, Google Cloud Key Management Service (Cloud Key Management Service, Cloud External Key Manager, etc), coupled with the Transparent Data Encryption capabilities of Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres, can help you implement stronger security and more flexible encryption key management mechanisms into your system.

In the past, the Transparent Data Encryption function bundled with Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres coexisted the encrypted data and the encryption key in the same system. By working with Google Cloud key management service to separate encrypted data from the location of encryption keys, you can reduce the risk of data being decrypted by unauthorized users.

      Flexible cryptographic key management

By centrally managing encryption keys with the key management service, you can achieve a unified key management method across systems, including databases.

In addition, the following encryption key management methods can be selected according to customer requirements.

      • BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) type cloud management method with operational cost advantages
      • Secure HYOK (Hold Your Own Key) type hybrid management system with data and key separation

      Future initiatives

Fujitsu will continue to work with the Google Cloud to enhance its products and services to make it easier for customers to use secure and flexible data management and utilization infrastructure.
For example, we are working to improve the operability of automatic rotation of cryptographic keys by providing tighter cooperation.

      Conclusion

Integrating Google Cloud services with Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres provides a secure and flexible data management and utilization foundation that enables customers to gain data portability and insights independent of their environment. In addition, whether on premise or across multiple cloud systems this solution provides centralized and flexible data protection tailored to an organization’s security need.

Fujitsu will continue to strengthen the collaboration between Google Cloud services and Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres to provide a more secure and flexible data management and utilization foundation to help customers achieve secure digital innovation.
