In-database inference boosts the Knowledge Data Management function
Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres includes a Knowledge Data Management function that extends traditional knowledge data search capabilities by enabling three complementary search methods.
In addition to access to relation data, it supports text semantic search to retrieve information based on meaning rather than exact keywords, vector similarity search to find semantically related content, and graph search to explore relationships and connections within knowledge data. Together, these methods allow more flexible, accurate, and context-aware discovery of knowledge data, crucial for AI workloads
Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres 18 introduces a new feature for Knowledge Data Management. In addition to supporting the execution of embedding models from Ollama and OpenAI (a capability available since version 17 SP1) for the vectorization of text data, it now adds support for executing ONNX (Open Neural Network eXchange)–format embedding models via the Triton Inference Server.
It is now possible to import ONNX-format embedding models directly into the database, enabling in-database vectorization of text data stored in tables. The system provides a comprehensive set of functions and procedures to administer and monitor the vectorization process directly from within the database using psql commands.
These built-in functions enhance support for the development and deployment of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.
Multi-Master Replication enhances support for mission-critical applications
In today's world, with the advance of business globalization and digital transformation, system downtime directly translates to a loss of business opportunities. No matter how good a service is, it's not good enough if data is unavailable. The importance of keeping data constantly available without system interruption is increasing. One technology that addresses this requirement is Multi-Master Replication.
What is Multi-Master Replication?
Multi-master replication is a mechanism where multiple database servers (nodes) all act as masters and mutually synchronize data in real-time. This allows data to be read from and written to any node, ensuring that each node always holds the latest data.
In a typical single-master configuration, there's a risk of the entire system stopping if the master goes down. However, with a multi-master configuration, even if one master node is affected by a disaster, business can continue with other active master nodes. This minimizes business interruption during a disaster and dramatically improves availability.
Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres Multi-Master Replication
Enterprise Postgres's multi-master replication delivers enterprise-level data management and high availability.
- Data synchronization via bidirectional replication
Data is constantly synchronized between regions through bidirectional replication, ensuring every node holds the latest data. No complex setup or special tools are required.
- High Availability through database duplication
Within each region, high availability is ensured by database duplication (primary/standby configuration). This allows for the construction of systems capable of responding to a wide range of issues, from widespread disasters to localized failures.
- Business continuity even during disasters
By having each region mutually possess data, business can continue by switching to an active region even when a disaster occurs. This minimizes overall system downtime.
- Rapid recovery with delta reflection only
During recovery, only delta changes need to be reflected, eliminating the need for long waits for resynchronization (full copy). This enables rapid recovery.
- Effective resource utilization
Since all nodes are operational, there's no need for a dedicated standby region for disaster recovery, maximizing resource utilization.
- Replication settings
We provide a unique function to specify tables to include and exclude from replication. This achieves a more stable replication environment and seamless integration with the functions provided by Enterprise Postgres.
