PostgreSQL achieves significant gain in popularity to win Database Management System of the Year for 2017, according to DB-Engines.

DB-Engines collects information regarding over 340 database management systems (DBMS) for IT professionals. They track the popularity of every system every month, culminating in an annual measurement to determine the DBMS that gained the most in terms of popularity over the course of the year.

We're pleased to announce they've awarded PostgreSQL "Database Management System of the Year" for 2017. This is based on rapid improvement in popularity every month of the year for a total gain of 55.81 points (or 17%).

2017 witnessed the release of PostgreSQL 10 delivering Declarative Partitioning, improved Query Parallelism, Logical Replication and Quorum Commit for Synchronous Replication, as well as enhancements for effectively distributing data across many nodes.

Fujitsu also delivered our enhanced enterprise version of open source PostgreSQL (FUJITSU Enterprise Postgres) to provide 24/7 support as well as both Data Masking and In-memory Column Store for faster performance in high data volume environments where security is key.

Previous winners of the DB-Engines DBMS of the Year Award:

      PostgreSQL 2017
      Microsoft SQL Server 2016
      Oracle 2015
      MongoDB 2014
      MongoDB 2013
