With attendees from 150+ organizations, the event truly showcased the growing adoption of Postgres across industries. This impressive turnout highlighted the increasing recognition of Postgres as a reliable and versatile database solution, capable of meeting the varied needs of different sectors.

The expertise levels were diverse, leading to insightful discussions—10% experts, 22% advanced, and 51% intermediate attendees contributed to high-quality knowledge sharing. It was also fantastic to see 28% female participation, reflecting the increasing diversity in the Postgres community.
Fujitsu’s strong presence at PGConf-India 2025

Me, presenting on the last day of the event
Fujitsu made a remarkable impact at the conference! Amit Kapila and Vigneshwaran C were recognized as top contributors to PostgreSQL in India, reinforcing Fujitsu’s commitment to open-source innovation. Our contributions to PostgreSQL continue to grow, and this recognition was truly well deserved!
Fujitsu had an impressive lineup of talks, each covering critical areas of PostgreSQL:
- Understanding Write-Ahead Logging (WAL) in PostgreSQL – by Vigneshwaran C: Deep dive into WAL internals.
- Failover Slots in PostgreSQL 17 – by Nisha Moond: Ensuring high availability with failover logical slots.
- How to Upgrade Replication Clusters Without Downtime – by Shlok Kyal: Using Logical Replication for seamless upgrades.
Key takeaways from the conference
This year also saw tremendous enthusiasm from PostgreSQL-based startups, with many sharing their experiences and innovative use cases. The talks ranged from PostgreSQL internals to AI-powered solutions using pgvector and even making PostgreSQL serverless!
It was inspiring to see how companies are leveraging Postgres to solve real-world challenges.
Feedback fom participants
Many attendees shared valuable feedback with us and requested enhancements or blogs on some key PostgreSQL features, including:
- Parallel recovery – For handling TBs of data efficiently.
- Handling full disk scenarios – Instead of PostgreSQL shutting down, users requested read-only queries to be allowed.
- Synchronous/failover slots for streaming replication as well
- Provide pgoutput hooks – This feature already exists, but a blog would help users understand and utilize it better.
- Skipping decoding of non-published tables – Ajin Cherian from our team is already working on this enhancement.
A conference to remember!
It was an honor to present, learn, and connect with so many brilliant minds in the PostgreSQL community. A huge thanks to Fujitsu for making this experience possible for us!
